Sugar free chocolate
We already know that sugar can cause havoc in the body. It can upset the gut microbiome, suppress the immune system, create inflammation, contribute to fatigue and is mucous forming. Reducing sugar is tough, but finding the right replacements makes it easier.
If you’re trying to kick the cravings, you may like to try the below recipe for sugar free chocolate. It’s delicious and it’s packed with a whole heap of goodness including antioxidants and fibre.
Ingredients
1 quarter cup of coconut oil
2 Tbsp of tahini
2 Tbsp of almond butter or hazlenut butter
5 cacao butter ‘buttons’ (optional)
2 Tbsp of honey
1 quarter Tsp cinnamon
Half a cup of raw cacao
Optional: you may like to add one or a combination of peanut butter, nuts and seeds, sultanas, dates, frozen berries/passionfruit, or rose petals.
Method
Combine everything except for the cacao in a pot, and heat gently
Add in any fruit and nuts you may want to use (e.g. pine nuts, brazil nuts, almonds, walnuts and/or sultanas and dates)
Take off the heat, and slowly stir in the cacao
Put the mixture in a container lined with baking paper, and freeze overnight
Take it out and cut it into smaller pieces. It melts pretty quickly so ensure you put it back in the freezer when you’re not eating it
